Rabbit Drawing Tips by reiu-shanra Rabbit Drawing Tips by reiu-shanra
Because there's a crapload of tutorials on wolfies, kitties, and horsies.

I'm no pro at drawing rabbits, but I surely can comment the most common mistakes people tend to make. And I did. Enjoy ;)

One more tip to add to the tail (i own bunnies so this should be useful); if they're sitting (like in the silhouette) their tail will be up against their back.
If the bunny's stretching out or their hind legs are extended, their tail will go down.

They can actually have a bit of floppy ears when not the hole ears flop images.staticjw.com/tiz/7257/i… one of my angoras ears always had floppy tips when she was relaxed. Even when she got older. All the other bunnies in the litter had normal ears.

This is quite helpful! I haven't found many tips on drawing rabbits and for some one new at it...well it makes it a little difficult. Comparing my first rabbit to the tips you have given on this I was seeing a few things I need to change, I was wondering if you could spot any so I can do better next time. :)

Yes, this is awesome, thank you for making this! I personally have a rabbit it took a lot of study to finally cement these things for me. I'm glad there is a tutorial to help those that don't get to have time to study a rabbit up close. <3

This is really helpful! I'm looking into drawing rabbits for one of my projects and had no idea where to start--it's really great that you've illustrated everything so neatly and colorfully. :) I really love the rabbit's tail, I didn't even know about it until know, but it's such an ingenious method for warning those around them of danger. ^-^

Appreciation. ^^ Wonderful article here, what kind of rabbits do you own? Any idea? Personally, I have TWO different body styles I can study at home - Rhinelanders/full arch, and dwarf. ^^

Thank you. :)
I have two mongrel dwarves, not really pure breed or anything. The buck is more "chubby", with a round head, small perky ears and stocky body. And he has this lovely short, silky fur. The doe looks more like a wild rabbit, quite slim, with an elongated muzzle, and larger, round ears. Her fur is something between shorthair and angora. They're both quite old, actually, I've had them for 8 years now.

Wonderful! It really bugs me when people draw rabbits with paw pads, the only time I've ever seen a rabbit's paw pad is when my doe's babies came out for the first time and had yet to grow their toe-hair.

This is very helpful :) Not enough rabbit tutorials/tips out there...it doesn't always work to stare intently at my rabbits until they get annoyed with me XD (it does help though...)

Is Basil a Dutch rabbit? I had one, his name was Tuxedo because he was black and white.

He's a mix-breed. His markings are not "pure" Dutch: the front paws are not white, but ginger with short white socks - like the ones in the picture. :)

Haha, I can imagine - fluffy cheeks can be a pain to draw. This is mainly why I chose my buck for a model instead of my doe - she's twice as fluffy as he is ;)
